Living Design Objects

Hollow & Moss

Quiet ecosystems for interior spaces.

Atmospheric plant compositions shaped with stone, wood, shadow and warm architectural light.

Bespoke interior objects

Objects with atmosphere

Not plants in pots. Small interior landscapes with a private weather.

Hollow & Moss is a boutique living design brand focused on atmospheric plant compositions for interior spaces. We create curated living objects: sculptural ecosystems that combine foliage, stone, texture, shadow, wood and restrained lighting into pieces that feel architectural and cinematic.

Quiet forests

Moss, bark, mineral humidity and the feeling of finding a living fragment under canopy shade.

Volcanic landscapes

Black lava, charcoal, red stone and foliage that feels like heat held beneath the surface.

Warm shadows

Objects designed for low light, indirect glow and rooms where atmosphere is the material.

Contained weather

The piece is not placed in the room. It changes the room.

A cinematic Hollow and Moss living design object emerging from mist and warm shadow.

The objects

Three compositions, each with its own terrain.

Sotobosque living design object with moss, forest foliage, stone and dark wood.
01

Sotobosque

Forest arrangements with moss, woodland foliage, dark bark and stone. Built over a breathable layered substrate that holds moisture without becoming heavy, then finished as a miniature forest floor.

  • Preserved and living moss textures
  • Dark foliage, fern structure and mineral stone
  • Quiet woodland humidity, made for interiors
Ashfall living design object with black lava rock, charcoal substrate, red stones and red foliage.
02

Ashfall

A volcanic composition built on black lava rock, charcoal, ash-dark mineral aggregate and small red stones. Red foliage cuts through the surface like heat under stone.

  • Black lava, charcoal and red mineral accents
  • Deep burgundy foliage with sculptural height
  • Dry drama balanced by controlled living roots
Salt and Tropical living design object with tropical leaves, pale mineral stone, moss and warm light.
03

Salt & Tropical

Tropical foliage made quiet, dark and architectural: glossy leaves, pale salt-washed stone, moss and a mineral substrate tuned for aeration, drainage and controlled interior humidity.

  • Deep green foliage, never colorful or playful
  • Salt-toned stone and humid moss pockets
  • Large-leaf presence for hotel, lobby and residence

The hidden architecture

A premium substrate is the part you rarely see and always feel.

Each object begins below the surface: a refined living base layered for drainage, oxygen, mineral stability and slow moisture release. Lava rock, charcoal, bark, pumice, moss and selected aggregates are composed as carefully as the visible landscape.

01

Drainage

Mineral structure that keeps the object breathable below the visible landscape.

02

Charcoal

Activated charcoal and lava rock stabilize moisture, texture and depth.

03

Humidity

Moss pockets hold a quiet interior climate without feeling overgrown.

04

Shadow

Dark bark, walnut, stone and concealed light create the final atmosphere.

Atelier note

A fragment of a hidden landscape. A small atmosphere contained within an object.

Inspired by Japanese minimalism, dark boutique interiors, natural textures and the contrast between organic life and structured design.

About us

Designed in Davenport by two people who read rooms like landscapes.

Hollow & Moss is led by Victor Castillo and Lily Villamizar, a Davenport-based duo shaped by chemistry, architecture, photography and a shared affection for quiet plant life.

Victor, a chemical engineer, approaches every piece from the hidden structure below the surface: substrate, drainage, mineral balance, humidity and the slow conditions that allow a living object to hold its atmosphere. Lily, an architect and photographer, shapes the visible world: proportion, shadow, texture, light and the cinematic silence of the final composition.

What began as a private ritual of collecting moss, stone, wood and unusual foliage became a language for interiors. Their work is sentimental in the quietest way: a memory of forests after rain, volcanic ground still warm in the dark, and the feeling that a room can become softer when it contains something alive.
